Aaheli at the Peerless Inn hotel - and its recent branch at the Axis Mall at Rajarhat - offers true-blue Bengali experience in the city. Authenticity matters and so does the presentation in bell metal utensils. The dhoti-clad service staff know their stuff as they suggest a Maha Thali or a Rajbhog, the elaborate fixed-menu meals, that comprise Shukto, Potol Posto, Topse Machh Bhaja, Postor Bora, Dal, Bati Chingri, Doi Ilish, Chingrir Malai Curry, Katla Kalia, Murgir Jhol, Kosha Mangsho, Aamer Chutney, Chhanar Payesh and Malpua. On the à la carte are the not so common Gachpathar Malai Curry, Kumro Patay Mora Chingri Paturi, Dhumra Gondhi Ilish and Chitol Machher Muithya. They often host festivals highlighting regional delicacies, the rates of which are quite high.
