Ingredients of Fish Salan

  • 1 Large king fish
  • 1/2 kg ripe tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp desi ghee
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • For the Marinade:
  • 1 tbsp saunth
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp fennel powder
  • 1/2 tbsp refined oil
  • Salt
  • Water

How to Make Fish Salan

Cut king fish into equal size pieces. Marinate with fennel powder, saunth, turmeric powder, refined oil and salt for 10- 15 minutes.

Blanch ripe tomatoes. Peel and blend them to make a thick puree.

Heat desi ghee in a pan and add ginger-garlic paste. Once it turns brown, add chopped onions.

Saute and add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and the tomato puree. Saute for sometime. Add the marinated fish pieces, salt, water and garam masala.

Cook it for some time, add black pepper powder and stir gently. Saute for some time and serve hot.
