Falafel

Here's a traditional Falafel recipe, deep fried chick pea balls, served with a tangy tahini paste. Perfect as a starter, main course or just an evening snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpeas

    1 cup chopped fresh coriander

    1 cup chopped fresh mint leaves

    2 tsp chopped green chillies or to taste

    1 tsp whole cumin seeds

    2 tsp crushed coriander seeds

    1 tsp turmeric powder

    1 Tbsp olive oil

    1 tsp baking powder

    Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Soak chick peas overnight in cold water and grind it into a fine paste.

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.

With wet hands, create small patties from the mixture.

Deep fry till golden brown or shallow fry in little olive oil.

Serve with Tahini paste made from sesame seeds, water, lemon, salt and pepper.
