Niru Gupta took up cooking as a hobby but was soon enthused by the art of cookery. She features regularly on Star Plus on a popular show called "Meri Saheli" and prior to that, was the host for a television serial, Khana Khazana.

She has also authored six books - Cook, My Dear; Everyday Indian; Cooking the U.P way; No Onion - No Garlic; Vrat Ka Khaana and the Microwave Indian Cookbook. She even contributes to cookery columns in Femina and Savvy. From time to time, Ms Gupta conducts cookery demonstration classes and offers selective catering services. Her recipes are known for being easy-to-make and delicious.
